Water with added value based on anaerobic membrane technology (ANAMEM)
Municipal wastewater can be a valuable source for the irrigation of agricultural products due to the nutrients it contains. High germicidal contamination and unsatisfactory cleaning often stand in the way of its use, however.
The project examines anaerobic degradation of municipal wastewater in a high-performance reactor which enables concentration of the biomass and produces germ-free and particle-free wastewater containing all nutrients.
By means of vacuum operation, methane degasses and can then be reutilized in a controlled fashion as biogas.
