In dieser Session stellen ausgewählte Vorhaben aus dem BMBF-Förderschwerpunkt »r² - Innovative Technologien für Ressourceneffizienz – rohstoffintensive Produktionsprozesse« ihre Forschungsvorhaben vor. Im Fokus stehen Vorhaben, die sich mit der Produktion von Primär- oder Sekundärmetallen befassen. Neben Ansätzen zur Optimierung der Kernprozesse in der Metallerzeugung werden auch Arbeiten zur besseren Nutzung von Nebenprodukten und Aspekte der Vernetzung von Stoffströmen vorgestellt.

Research priority areas for the foreseeable future

• The improvement of recycling of expensive metals out of complex composed waste materials
• The development of metal production processes with improved productivity due to higher sophisticated control units and resultant lower losses
• The uses of waste materials in other processes to create an ecological and economical benefit

Necessary framework conditions to foster international cooperation for sustainable development

• Scientific and industrial global network for sustainable development
• Exchange lectures about sustainable development and processes in a global university network to teach students in different countries
• International conferences like FONA with small working groups
  

Other important issues or topics discussed during the session

• The loss of valuable metals because of an increasing tendency to use old cars in other parts of the world
• Which technical possibility really exist, to get back elements like rare earth metals, if they are regular distributed in small amounts in electronic and other products.
