Beschreibung

Open City places local identities and specificities at the core of its development strategy to discover and recover unused, neglected or even forgotten resources for regaining their value and giving rise to new products and services resulting from unusual combinations of different elements and sectors (multisectoral approach)

Open City strategic plans are based on community mobilization enabling players involved in the development process to express not only their knowledge, expectations and conflicts, but also their ability to build collective initiatives and to organize themselves around new ideas.

Open City believes that the creation of social capital is the basis for sustainable development which is a concept going well beyond the simple preoccupation of environmental protection to encompass a dynamic process of economic efficiency, social cohesion and respect of the integrity of the environment reconciling the relationship between rural and urban turning existing or potential conflicts into positive synergies.

Social capital represents the community capacity to take action, a collective ability on how to organize local resources, a mechanism by which citizens can leverage their decision-making power through the art of association.
