Research for sustainability - new impulse for Science, Economy and Education
Federal Minister Edelgard Bulmahn will open the first "BMBF Forum for sustainability" in Berlin on 30 November 2004. This forum is a platform for everyone interested in an increasing implementation of sustainability in the fields of science, economy and education. The new BMBF framework programme provides more than 800 million Euros for the research on sustainable development in the next 5 years.

After the opening statement by Federal Minister Edelgard Bulmahn and a
speech by Prof. Dr. Claus Weyrich, board member of the Siemens AG, a
high-ranking podium will debate the potentials of research and
education for a sustainable development with the audience.
In
subsequent discussion forums the participants will have the opportunity
to exchange experiences. An evening buffet provides the opportunity of
a face-to-face conversation with Ulrich Kasparick, Parliamentary State
Secretary to the Federal Minister of Education and Research.
The focal points of the event are:
education and research as a motor for sustainable development
innovative concepts for increasing sustainability in industy and economy
exchange and cooperation throughout Europe and worldwide
An accompanying exhibition displaying the successes of the founded
projects depicts the diversified spectrum and the application potential
of the research for sustainability.
