Sustainable Bioproduction
How can biotechnology know-how be translated into new environmentally sound and resource-protecting production processes, products and services?

Within the framework of this research topic biological processes will be made technically productive under economic conditions with the help of innovative biotechnology approaches, such as modelling metabolic pathways, evolutive enzyme design, metabolic flow analyses and modern approaches of bioprocessing technology.
The programme is directed at research in addition to, in particular, the chemical and pharmaceutical, food and beverage, paper and cellulose as well as the textile and leather sectors. A major goal is support for setting up competence networks.
