Discussion of need of action for Government, Science, Industry; Presentation of contributions of nanotechnology for sustainability and innovations
Format: Presentations with following discussion Language:
German (English translation)
Nanotechnology will be among the key technologies of the twenty-first
century. It is distinguished by the functionalities and properties of
components and materials which are dependent on effects in the nanometer range
(10–9m). This offers a wide range of potential applications in the field of
environmental and energy technology: Materials and systems
with environmental friendly properties like functionalised coatings (e.g. switchable
transmission to reduce heating-up in rooms), light weight materials with
effects on energy efficiency, materials with improved mechanical, thermal or
chemical properties for power plants or wind energy as well as infrastructure
for power supply. Nanomaterials play a decisive role amongst others in lithium battery
technology (membrane) or solar cells of the next generation (new materials like
quantum dots or organic photovoltaik). Also nanotechnology provide key
materials for the mobile energy supply like fuel cells and hydrogen storage.
