The Terra-, Aqua- & Site Remediation Competence Centre (TASK) is an initiative of the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research and the German Ministry of Education and Research. TASK is in accordance with the recently published High-Tech Strategy of the German’s Government as it aims in an accelerated and improved market implementation of new and upcoming technologies and concepts in contaminated land management. TASK is made up of a UFZ-based competence and coordination centre as well as a network of internationally accepted experts in the field of soil and groundwater technologies. Based on analysis of the outcome of finished and ongoing research projects as well as the situation at the markets TASK will identify concepts and technologies of high innovation potential. In order to increase the visibility and to promote the use of these products transfer measures are designed and supported. Measures may include annual product fairs, the organisation of workshops and expert panels, set-up of recommendations for policy makers, networking and teaching activities as well as product demonstrations at field sites. A focus of TASK is also on East European Countries.
