Target Audience: Economy, public administratiom, science
Objectives:
Sustainable production on a national level is important – but to transfer the experiences focused on the international needs is much more important in the context that we are all living in a globalised world economy.
Influence Sustainability actively- wolrdwide
Format: Keynote speeches and moderated discussion Language:
English
The technical exchange and the representation of project experiences and project results at national level should serve to find establishing points for the specific transfer at international level. What kind of obstacles exist and can be found new ways to learn, e.g., from experiences and good practice? How is it about the political specifications and the differences worldwide? Did we need more active networks and stages to exchange the results and diverse views? Keynote speeches focus first the relevance of the key aspects. Afterwards the discussion started from the national view with a look to the perspectives to transfer experiences to the international needs.
Central questions for discussion:
When does a transference of experiences from national projects on the international level make sense?
Keyword: “Global Supply chain”: What can be the effect of political measures?
Do we need new network structures in a global scale, isn’t it?
Which basic conditions for an active assistance do we need respectively which constrains we have to get over?
Is it possible to have advantages in the field of e.g. technology transfer on the global market?
Workshop Moderation
Lang - Koetz, Claus Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Engineering, Stuttgart, Germany
inequalities in the value chain have to be regarded
developing countries carry 80% of the ecological backpack, but gain only 20% of the value added in the value chain
LEUENBERGER, Heinz:
National Cleaner Production Centres were established to foster the uptake of cleaner production concepts, methods, practices and policies in developing and transition economies
UNIDO and UNEP support the centres on a country by country basis for a minimum of three years
centres participate in a global network and contribute to multi-country projects
ROHN, Holger: important success factors for cooperation projects with Russia, Finnland and other countries are:
valid transfer products and good practise examples
trustable partners from Russian side
language and cultural skills
clear and concrete working arrangements
Main issues of Dialogue
How can technology transfer really work in practice? Transfer has to happen wisely, taking cultural differences into accont.
People in OECD countries lead a "Western lifestyle" with respective consumption patterns. This also means that changing consumption behaviour (in addition to using resource efficient technologies) is an important means to reduce environmental impact.
International technology and solution transfer should be addressed more appropriately in R&D projects such as funded by the BMBF.
Concepts for applied research driven by industry (e.g. the Fraunhofer model) can serve as a basis for transfer or R&D results to other countries.
Practical conclusions
existing instruments should be further developed
funding seems to be not appropriate currently (especially in R&D projects)
it should be checked whether an increase is possible
