Short biography
Already for a long time
Steffen Seibert stands for the Second German Television “ZDF” (a public German
television channel). Since 2003 he has worked as “anchor” and editor in the
studio of the 7 o’clock News. Since 2007 he has also moderated the news
magazine “heute-journal”.
Being the anchorman of many ZDF-specials he is not only responsible for the
news and major national events but also for the figures during the election
news coverage. So he started his journalistic career with the TV News working
as editor of the news magazine “heute-journal”. In between he gathered
experience as foreign correspondent in “Studio Washington” (in Washington DC)
working as anchorman of the telecast “Morgenmagazin”. Finally he became head of
the editorial department and anchorman of the telecast “Hallo Deutschland”
and “ZDF.reporter”.
Steffen Seibert was born in 1960 in Munich. In
1988 after his academic studies of history in Hamburg and London he joined the
Second German Television (ZDF) as a trainee. After having passed several
sections in relevant editorial departments he reported from Washington between
1992 and 1995. Subsequent he became anchorman of the “ZDF-Morgenmagazin”
reporting from Berlin. 1997 he changed to the eve’s programme of the Second German
Television and moderated the telecasts “Abendmagazin” and “Hallo Deutschland”.
For the moderation of the TV special on September 11, 2001 Seibert was awarded
the golden camera followed by the audience bambi award in 2005 which he -
together with Johannes B. Kerner - was handed over for the moderation of the
ZDF donation broadcast of the Tsunami catastrophy in South East Asia.
Steffen Seibert is married and has three children.
