Short biography
Jim Buizer is Senior Policy Advisor to the President & University
Director for University Transformation in the Office of the President
at Arizona State University (ASU), where he provides the University
president with strategic guidance regarding the university transition
toward the “New American University.” Jim is responsible for leading
conceptualization and design of new interdisciplinary degrees, research
centers and institutes. In this role he led the design and initiation
of the university-wide Global Institute of Sustainability and its
degree-granting School of Sustainability. Prior to ASU, Jim served as
Director of the Climate and Societal Interactions Division at the U.S.
National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, where he was
responsible for providing programmatic vision and design, leadership
and overall management of NOAA’s integrated, multidisciplinary research
and applications program positioned at the climate and societal
interface.
