Dr. phil. Bettina Brohmann studied psychology, sociology and regional
planning. As a senior researcher she has 20 years of experience in
consumer and motivation research, need area approach, public
participation in decision-making (mediation) and risk communication.
She is mainly responsible for social issues in energy and climate
policy (design and evaluation of energy savings programmes in Western
Europe and USA) as well as for the issues of scientific evaluation. She
has been a coordinator of the network of about 100 member
municipalities of the Öko-Institut (on energy and climate change and
sustainable consumption) and a member of the German Risk Commission on
health and consumer protection, risk communication and participation.
