6th BMBF Forum for Sustainability Research for Sustainability - One Step Further 9 - 10 September 2009, PROTOTYP Lofts, Hamburg
Dr. Renate Forkel
Institute for Meteorology and Climate Research - Atmospheric Environmental Research (IMK-IFU) Garmisch Partenkirchen Germany
Short biography
Renate Forkel studied meteorology and graduated with the Ph.D. at the Meteorological Institute of the University of Mainz in 1986.
She worked in the field of numerical modelling of fog and plant canopy processes at the Meteorological Institute of the University of Munich and at the Soil Science Department at the University of Wisconsin, Madison.
She is with the IMK-IFU at Garmisch-Partenkirchen since 1995, where she is responsible for the development of the regional climate-chemistry model MCCM and of a canopy-chemistry model. Her research interests include numerical modelling of regional air quality in megacities and sensitive regions, and numerical modelling of physical and chemical processes within forest canopies. One major aspect of her research is to investigate regional climate change and the interaction between climate change and air quality by means of regional climate-chemistry simulations.
