International Partnerships for Sustainable Technologies and Services for Climate Protection and the Environment (CLIENT)

Strategic partnerships strengthen global climate protection and economic development

By means of the funding measure CLIENT and as a result of exemplary projects, international partnerships in research, development and the implementation of environmental and climate protection technologies and services should be created and expanded and lead market developments in this field should be initiated. In particular joint projects and preparatory projects should be promoted in this connection. The focus of the research cooperations lies particularly on the cooperation with Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa and Viet Nam.

The key areas with regard to the content of the funding measure are technologies and/or service innovations for sustainable developments in the areas of:

  • Climate protection:
    • Reduction in the emission of CO2 and other greenhouse gases
    • Separation of CO2 and its further processing as a chemical base material
    • Increasing the energy efficiency in production to minimise greenhouse gas emissions
    • Product and production-integrated environmental protection
    • Operational management
    • Adaptation to climate change
  • Use of resources:
    • Raw material development and management
    • Production-integrated environmental protection
    • Efficiency of resources
    • Raw material substitution
    • Closing material cycles and recycling
  • Land management:
    • Innovative land usage methods
    • Land recycling technologies
    • Adapted technical infrastructure systems
    • Applied remote sensing
    • Geographic information services for integrated regional planning
  • Water management:
    • Regional/urban water resource management
    • Energy and consumption-optimised water infrastructures
    • Water sanitation technologies
    • Planning tools for water management
