Kurzbiographie

Prof. Dr. Raphael Kaplinsky is Honorary Professor at the Science Policy Research Unit, Sussex University and Emeritus Professor at the Institute of Development Studies at Sussex University.
He has provided policy advice to governments, international institutions and firms on the nature and determinants of global competitiveness and inclusion, focusing on industrial and technology policy and the upgrading required. He has also provided extensive support to UN institutions, the World Bank and the OECD.

He has participated in the Global Value Chains network, the Asian Drivers-Rising Powers programme (focus on Africa), the Global Commodities Network and the inclusive innovation. He is also a Panel Member of the Intern. Panel on Social Progress.

His particular interest lies in the trajectory of growth and development in sub-Saharan Africa. Most recently he co-directed a programme focusing on linkages from the commodities sector in Africa. He authored/joint authored 8/14 books. edited16 books/Special Issues, and has published more than 75 papers and more than 55 book chapters.
