BMBF Global Change Research Projects at HANNOVER MESSE 2012

Global Change research projects funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) will be presenting themselves at HANNOVER MESSE from 23rd to 27th of April, 2012. Discover how future megacities and small and medium-sized enterprises fight climate change through research and development of innovative technologies.

Future Megacities
Globalisation, climate change and continuous urbanization place enormous pressure on rapidly growing megacities around the world. With its funding programme Research for the Sustainable Development of Megacities of Tomorrow the BMBF focuses on energy and climate efficient structures in urban growth centres (see www.future-megacities.org).

Special exhibition Metropolitan Solutions (Hall 26, Stand B46)
The exhibition will present research projects on the infrastructure of energy, water, waste water, and mobility, as well as climate change, security and waste management in megacities.

Tuesday, April 24th 2012, 10:00-10:20 am

KMU Innovativ: Resources and Energy Efficiency
In the upcoming years, climate change is set to massively increase pressure on the economy, politics and society. Energy and climate efficient technologies are developing into a critical success factor. These innovative technologies are often driven by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are an important interface for the transfer of research results from the scientific to the business community.
Through the funding of SME projects (KMU Innovativ) in the area of “resources and energy efficiency”, the BMBF is seeking to boost the potential for innovation among SMEs in world-class research (see www.hightech-strategie.de/en/439.php).
