Competition for the Digital GreenTalents Award 2025 now open

The Digital Green Talents Award 2025 is entering a new round. Young scientists from around the world with innovative ideas on digital technology and sustainable development are invited to submit their applications for the competition by June 6, 2025. The Award is sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF).

How can we create good and healthy living conditions for all people when global climate change is challenging our economy and current way of life? How can digitalization contribute to a more sustainable future?

The German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is continuing the "Digital GreenTalents - High Potentials in Sustainable Development" program initiated in 2024 and is once again looking for talented young scientists to research solutions to these pressing issues and thus contribute to achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 20 Digital GreenTalents will have the opportunity to complete a fully-funded research stay of up to three months in Germany in 2026. The award winners will also become part of a global network of outstanding young researchers and establish valuable contacts with leading German institutions in the field of digitalization and sustainability.

The Digital GreenTalents Award is open to PhD students focusing on the application of digitalization for sustainable development. Master's students and recent PhD graduates are also eligible to apply. The Digital GreenTalents are selected by a jury of high-ranking experts. The winners will be announced during an online ceremony in November 2025. In addition to the scholarship for the research stay in Germany, the Digital GreenTalents Award also includes a mentoring program and participation in the SpringSchool 2026 with workshops, excursions and numerous networking opportunities.
