What is to be done with Agenda 2030!

The world is becoming sustainable. More and more businesses, administrative bodies, and civil organisations are striving for sustainability, and researchers are supporting them. On the 9 and 10 May, 2017, 400 experts will be discussing what this means in real terms, at the 13th Forum for Sustainability, hosted by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF). The conference will be opened by the German Federal Minister of Education and Research, Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka and the Head of the Federal Chancellery, Peter Altmaier.

The focus of the Conference, that is being held under the motto What is to be done with Agenda 2030!, will be the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. In the years to come, the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) will serve as guiding principles for practical measures to be taken by businesses, communities, or administrations.

Science will play an important part in the success of the Agenda's goals: scientific advances make the ambitious sustainability goals attainable and can gauge our progress. Examples of science's success in doing so will be presented during the Forum, and future approaches will be explained by representatives of the new scientific Platform for Sustainability Goals. The German Federal Government's Initiative is an essential part of Germany's Sustainability Strategy.
