"Water & Health" Joint Transnational Call Open

On September 12, 2025, the European partnership "Water4All“ launched its fourth joint call for research and innovation projects. The partnership will fund transnational projects investigating the complex interactions between water systems and human health, with a special focus on water quality, contaminants and water treatment technologies.

The call announcement invites submissions of  innovative instruments, methods, and approaches: for example, precise, efficient, and cost-effective methods for monitoring water quality to optimize risk assessment and management; or sustainable water treatment technologies that ensure a safe drinking water supply and effective wastewater disposal.

The call addresses a total of four topics:

  • Waterborne contaminants & health risks: occurrence, behaviour, interactions and vulnerability
  • Innovative tools and technologies for water quality and exposure monitoring
  • Water treatment and exposure mitigation
  • Governance, socio-economic innovation, and policy integration for water and health

A detailed description of these topics can be found in the English-language call announcement on the joint call website

Thirty-three funding organizations from 30 countries have joined forces for this call. On the German side, the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) is participating.
