Faktencheck Artenvielfalt: Now also available in English
The Faktencheck Artenvielfalt (biodiversity fact check), one of the most comprehensive assessments of biological diversity in Germany, is now also available in English and is attracting additional attention internationally with a new teaser video. The aim is also to make the topic more tangible for young people. Created as part of the Research Initiative for the Conservation of Biodiversity (FEdA) of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), over 150 scientists show in the fact check what we know about the state of biodiversity in our country.
Faktencheck Artenvielfalt: Germany's biodiversity in the international spotlight
The Biodiversity Fact Check is now also available in English. This means that international decision-makers from politics and business, researchers and interested parties now also have access to one of the most comprehensive assessments of biodiversity in Germany. In addition, a compact teaser video has been published on social media, which presents the most important results in a target group-oriented way for a younger audience.
The Biodiversity Fact Check is the first to systematically show the state of biodiversity in Germany: it identifies key trends, drivers of species decline and formulates scientifically sound recommendations for the conservation of biodiversity. Following the German edition, the English version has now also been published by Oekom-Verlag and is available to download free of charge.
„Wir brauchen faktenbasierte Debatten über den Biodiversitätsverlust – national wie international" (We need fact-based debates on biodiversity loss - both nationally and internationally), emphasizes editor Prof. Dr. Christian Wirth. „Der Faktencheck Artenvielfalt ist weltweit eines der ersten Beispiele, wie große internationale Berichte - wie die globalen und regionalen Assessments des Weltbiodiversitätsrates IPBES - auf einen nationalen Kontext zugeschnitten aussehen können." (The Biodiversity Fact Check is one of the first examples worldwide of how large international reports - such as the global and regional assessments of the World Biodiversity Council IPBES - can be tailored to a national context.)
So far, only a few countries worldwide have presented such a comprehensive national biodiversity assessment. Germany is playing a pioneering role here with its biodiversity fact check
